Background
The notion of globalization is not new. In the last five decade, multinational corporations in the developed country have expanded their activities around the world. One view sees globalization as the fruition of liberal economic principles. Globalization has brought a lot of changes impacting dramatically on the entire world. The global economic growth has wide-ranging as the result of the globalization. It also can be understood that globalization is not a single-dimensional. The technology advance and policy of liberalization through computerized system, miniature, digitalization, satellite communication and others nano-technology devices, cause people around the world are actively borderless communicated. As a result the revolution of information has changed the patterns of information access and control across the globe. The crucial roles of information and communication technologies stimulate and allow cultural exchange. This means that with the new information environment the pace at which culture is exported from one place to another has increased dramatically. Consequently, in regard to the concept of culture, multiculturalism becomes an obviously inevitable. Globalization also causes unequal distribution among nations; widen the range of “poor” and “rich” country. Transnational business activities are concentrated in the industrial world and in scattered enclaves throughout the underdeveloped world. Based on the report of Human Development Index 1996, in the last three decades, only 15 states reach high development, while 89 economically decreased compare with their progress in the previous decade. It shows that globalization also closely linked to social inequality and social problems. In sum, globalization is a new historical reality -not simply the one invented by neo-liberal ideology to convince citizens to surrender to markets, but also the one inscribed in processes of capitalist restructuring, and enacted through the powerful medium of new information and communication technologies.
